What and how you would like to participate in the Mindletics Pilot?Students will utilize the Khan Academy to enrich their knowledge and understanding of math skills. Teacher will use Khan 2 -3 times per week in class. All students will be tracked using Khan. On off days RTI (response to intervention) and IEP (individual education plan) students will utilize Khan. We fully intend to incorporate the Khan academy into the daily intervention period provided in the schedule. We will implement an after school program for selected students. Teachers will help students set individual Kahn Academy performance goals and provide both team and personal rewards as goals are met. 2. What outcomes do you hope to see?Sandy Valley will track student achievement through a variety of tools. First the Kahn Academy itself offers instant feedback for students and performance results for teachers. The district already employs Testingwerks, Study Island, AimsWeb, OAA, AYP to track student achievement in Mathematics. In addition, teachers are developing common assessments at each grade level to evaluate student mastery.A. Number of students involved? 380 About 120 per class 5th, 6th and 7th grade.B. Other:3. What amount of funding is required and how will it be used?A. Start up costs are daunting and without a grant the district could not hope to implement such an ambitious program. We would like to start with a classroom set of ipad’s for each classroom 5th, 6th, 7th and PLTW set (4 sets of 30 and one ipad for teacher 124) and 124 covers. We would need to purchase 12 charging/syncing bays, each bay holds 10 ipads and a server solely to maintain ipads. We would also try and find an insurance policy or an extra set of 10 ipads, to replace damaged or broken devices. We would need funds to purchase apps as needed. Lastly is funding to compensate teacher for after school assistance for students.
